got exams coming up, so..

Flickr! They've slashed their prices!! wow, it's now only under £14 per year or just over £1 a month now! (they've also doubled the size of free accounts and gave people who paid the higher rate before extra stuff like double space and 2 free pro invitations... how generous...)

Macromedia and Adobe merger - i'm really excited at the prospects as they produce my favourite pieces of software. admittedly i might be more interested at how the new "brand image" will be like, more than its potential clash with microsoft. seriously, even microsoft doesn't have much of a chance to compete with them, especially in digital graphics and design or web publishing.

talking about Macromedia vs Microsoft, i think people are really interested with software which will help people work better and communicate easily in the future.
Macromedia's Breeze is *awesome*. it's kinda like MSN's Netmeeting and Powerpoint joined together, but with a load of bells and whistles and a brilliant interface to boot (Microsoft is pretty crap at interfaces in general). it also is an easy-to-use training application and offers really slick web-conferencing. this office application is potentially very lucrative (that's a reason why Breeze is accessed via online subscription only, so piracy is reduced... *shucks*).
which brings Microsoft into the picture - I'm sure with its experience in Netmeeting, Powerpoint, Messenger, .NET, OneNote, Project, Visio, Outlook (ok, getting out of hand here), Microsoft must have something hidden up its sleeve...
ok, maybe this competition, if there is any, will indeed be interesting.

other things that we may see in the future...
Flash/PDF hybrid, Flash and/or PDF on mobile phones, interactive PDFs, much lighter PDFs, great (Macromedia-designed) interfaces (on phones or in software), probably no more Fireworks (oh no! although it is not that nice, but i like it)... i'm sure there are more...
